Homemade Chocolate

This homemade chocolate recipe is so quick and easy to make and it’s wonderful to be able to indulge in a healthy sweet treat knowing exactly what you’re putting in your body.

Ingredients
-100g cacao butter
-45g cacao powder
-45g maple syrup
-1tsp vanilla powder/essence
-Pinch of salt
-Optional extras – dried fruit/nuts/seeds

-Blitz the cacao butter (makes melting it so much faster)
-Using a heatproof bowl over a small saucepan of boiling water, melt the cacao butter. The water shouldn’t be touching the bottom of the bowl and you don’t want any water to splash into the bowl.
-Once fully melted, turn off the heat and add all other ingredients. Stir thoroughly to remove any lumps
-Pour chocolate into a container lined with baking paper or pour into chocolate moulds. Sprinkle on any toppings if desired.
-Set in the fridge or freezer.
-Break into pieces and store in a container in the fridge.

Notes: This is on the darker side, so you could reduce the cacao to 35g or if you want it even darker increase it a little. Don’t increase the maple syrup as it could seize the chocolate being a liquid. You could replace the maple syrup with honey or a powdered sugar. Cacao butter can be bought on-line, just get food grade, and some health food stores will stock it.
