Now although I don’t think it’s healthy to go around sanitising everything, and I think many of us are a bit over the push of sanitisers after the last few years. However, this home made sanitiser is very handy to have when you’re out and about if you find yourself in a situation where you can’t wash your hands with water and soap. If I’m going to use a hand sanitiser, then I would much rather use a natural one that I have made myself so that I know exactly what’s in it. The best part, it takes only minutes to make!
All you need is:
- 30ml/1oz spray bottle
- Aloe vera/fractioned coconut oil
- Rubbing alcohol (isopropyl)
- 12-18 drops essential oils of choice
- (I used 5 drops tea tree, 5 drops lemon, 4 drops clove, 4 drops orange)

In a small spray bottle, put the essential oils, then fill ¼ of the bottle with aloe vera/coconut oil and fill the remaining ¾ of the bottle with rubbing alcohol. Give it a shake and it’s ready to use.
The rubbing alcohol kills the germs, the aloe vera/fractioned coconut oil is to help soothe the skin as alcohol is very drying on the skin, and the essential oils can help fight germs and give the spray a lovely scent.
